Progress

Combat Alpha Updates

  • These past two months we’ve been focusing on tools to help with debugging, improvements to our UI, and visual updates. In our previous updates, we’ve mainly been focusing on implementing new content into the Combat Alpha and fixing major issues along the way. Things have become more stable since then, and we’ve been focusing on improving the user experience for anyone not familiar with the UI we’ve already had in game.

  • This includes things like, making it easily accessible on controller, updating the visual style, and making sure things are more clear on how to interact with the different UI elements. These things will make it easier to interact with the menus the first time you’re introduced to them.

  • We’ve also been updating the environments! We’re working on simplifying our environment’s art style to fit our development team’s strengths. Its come a long way from the initial rollback tests!

  • Raddapus and Graccoon were missing a few of their moves that have now been implemented (Graccoon missing his aerial heavy attack, and Raddapus was missing two heavies that can be used at different points in his Jab combo. I’ll list out two of the moves below!

Sneak Peeks

Raddapus Knee (Press Heavy after second Jab)

  • Raddapus flies into the air with a knee that knocks back opponents and sets himself up for aerial combos

Graccoon Tail Slam ( Press Heavy while aerial)

  • Graccoon bounces his opponents on the ground which sets up for combo extensions

  • To wrap up, we’re getting very close to the release of the alpha! We need to add skill swapping, and from there its cleaning up some known bugs and polish. We may be looking out for some playtesters between now and the next newsletter. If we’re in a position to do so, sign ups will be posted both on the kickstarter page and on discord! Also, over the next few weeks over on our discord we’ll be posting some clips from our developer playtests (online battles), so look forward to those!

Single Player

  • This section will be a bit brief, the single player updates will take some more time to cook before being able to showcase them!

We’ve aligned on how we’re approaching the updates to the single player portion of the game, and have laid out some internal roadmaps to make sure we’re on the right track.

  • Zane has been focusing on the redesign of Zone 1’s level.

  • Aidan has been focusing on ‘sneaking’ as part of the new updates to our movement system that come as part of some of our re designs.
